On our first issue of In a Minute we checked out the Muji Is exhibit at Japan Cultural Centre.

Muji Is is your MUJI Aesthetic Dreams
Written by Y.S. Chia
Muji is a brand everyone associates with minimalist, purposeful and zen designs, so much so that some people describe things as “Muji Aesthetic”. How did this aesthetic come about? With Muji’s “Muji Is” exhibit now in Singapore at the Japan Cultural Centre, we got an insight into Muji design philosophy. In conjunction with their “Muji Is” book, the ‘A walk in the forest of verbs with “MUJI IS” exhibit was definitely a zen experience. Everything there has been thoughtfully placed and gave the “Muji vibe” we all know and love.

While descriptions were in Japanese, there were free brochures and the book was available for free viewing too.

A timeline was also created tracking their 40 years of history though I wished it had more information.
Our Honest Opinion

No Brand, Quality Exhibit - 3.5/5
It’s a zen, albeit short “Muji-vibe” experience. It's a bit troublesome to get to, making the exhibit only worth it if you are already in the area.
The Muji Is exhibit is free and runs on till 27 July, from 10am to 6pm daily at Japan Cultural Centre at 4 Nassim Rd, Singapore 258372.
