“Monarchs & Milkweed - Affordable Gelato from Fine Dining Chefs” In a Minute

July's weather has been a mixed bag. Sometimes it rains like no tomorrow, other times it sears the sidewalk. For the latter, we need something more than just chendol or Teh bing to cool down!

That’s why we checked out Monarch and Milkweed - a gelato store that impressed us with its bold, unique flavours: think Brown Butter Sage, Soursop mint, Coconut Pandan and more.

Upon entry, we were greeted by the store’s laid-back ambience and clean aesthetic. The smell of their freshly made waffle cones(YES they make them fresh) wafted through the air, inviting me to float to the counter.

Expectations were high as the store owners both have an extensive background working in fine dining and Michelin-starred restaurants.

With so many flavours, I was grateful to the staff who was super friendly and offered to let us try almost every flavour on display.

We settled on the White Burnt Chocolate($4.90) in their homemade waffle cone($1). It had a rather peculiar taste - it was nutty and a bit too sweet for me. Texture-wise it was creamy but crunchy too.

Ample space made a comfortable dining experience.

Honest Opinion

Gelatoooooohhhhh - 4 Stars

I'm a big fan of all frozen desserts but Monarchs and Milkweed Gelato really stand out from the rest with their unique flavours and reasonable price. You can check out “Monarch & Milkweed” at 802 North Bridge Rd, #01-01, Singapore 198770. They open from 12 pm to 10 pm on Tuesdays to Sundays and close on Mondays.
