Vegans and vegetarians delight, plant-based eatery Quick Greens has a new food truck serving their familiar vege bowls, burgers and wraps.

By Y.S. Chia Food trucks in Singapore are still a relatively rare sight that many do not see outside of festivals. Few have made a name for themselves and even fewer have offerings for vegans and vegetarians. Until now!
Quick Green - a plant-based eatery at FUNAN has expanded its services to be the first plant-based food truck serving delectable veggie bowls, wraps and burgers.
It’s stationed right outside Orchard Cineleisure to cater to hungry shoppers and workers.
Being a part of the latter group, we decided to check it out!
WHAT WE ORDERED
Quick disclaimer, the Quick Green Food Truck, unfortunately, does not accept cash and requires you to order through your phone and accepts credit, debit, Apple and Google pay (More on this later).

Ordering for two people, we first got the Hello Hercules Bowl($13.90). Its protein substitute was Kibbeh - essentially a middle eastern croquette. The Kibbeh tasted meaty and savoury with the vegetables providing a lighter contrast.
The thousand island dressing could have had a stronger kick while the juicy olives and crunchy radish gave it a slightly tangy flavour. Portion-wise it was surprisingly filling.

We also tried the Vegan Island Vibe Stack($15.80). In the words of Thanos, “Reality is often disappointing”. The stack is about the size of a McMuffin. The menu’s photo also showed cheese - there was none, though the description never mentions it.
The buns are soft, the vegetables are crispy and the patty tasted savoury with hints of cumin. The thousand island dressing is more noticeable here too.
To quench our thirst, we also got the Gusto Organic Sicilian Blood Orange($5.50) and the James White Classic Apple & Elderflower($5.50).

The Gusto Organic Sicilian Blood Orange($5.50) is a sparkling orange juice that is slightly sweet. It’s the lighter of the two and has hints of a grapefruit flavour - interesting but I wouldn’t drink it again.

Meanwhile, the James White Classic Apple & Elderflower($5.50) was a slightly tart floral apple juice. It had a similar node of sweetness which I welcome after having become accustomed to so many sweetened apple juices.
Location & Service

The food truck is located right outside Cineleisure Orchard which makes it a convenient stone's throw away from Somerset MRT
There are no tables meaning you’ll have to find a spot to eat on your own.
While there isn't a cover on the truck, I was relieved to learn you don’t need to worry about queueing in the sun. Instead, they have a convenient QR code to order from.
I was also impressed that you could even order days in advance and schedule the pickup timing.

The staff are friendly and flexible too! I had put in an order for a later time but having arrived earlier and with no other customers, they were able to prepare my order earlier.
Our Honest Review

Everything’s gotta start somewhere - 3.5/5
Perhaps the main selling point for Quick Green’s food truck is its novelty. The idea of finally ordering a plant-based meal from a fun portable kitchen is charming and a win for vegans and vegetarians. That said, the food itself is average. If you’re craving plant-based food, you could give the Hello Hercules or one of their wraps a try. The drinks are interesting pick-me-ups too if you’re looking for something fruity.
Their service is impeccable though and ordering really is convenient with their QR code system. It's something I hope more eateries can adopt in future, perhaps at carnivals too. For those planning to check it out, Quick Green’s Food truck is stationed at Cineleisure Orchard, Outdoor Atrium North, 8 Grange Rd, till 27 July and operates from 11 am to 9 pm. —-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
