Because Bubble tea on every hot day is not cool.

Healthy Teas for Hotter Days

Written by Y.S. Chia

With the weather recently, we can’t blame you for indulging in cold treats. We do too. That said, if you're looking for a healthier option, you could try Leeves. Leeves specialises in healthy floral teas brewed in-house - and they’re all very pretty drinks!

Tucked away on the far end of Yio Chu Kang station, their brews are vividly colourful, yet I rarely see customers. Perhaps it was a gem undiscovered - and so we went to check it out.

What We Ordered

Right off the bat, I was surprised by the generous size of the drinks, unlike other stores, Leeves has a 1 size-fits-all for hot and cold drinks respectively.

The Butterfly Pea Milk Tea($5.40) looks straight out like Bantha Milk from Star Wars though I have no idea how that tastes. There is a strong fragrance that accompanies the floral flavour of the tea. The aloe vera’s silky texture also complimented it well. Meanwhile, the Red Moon with Lychee Popping Boba($4.90) looked like a drinkable lava lamp. The hibiscus lemon balm mix had a fruity taste, with the lemon not being too sour. The lychee pearls were enjoyable, with their sweet flavour bursting in my mouth.

Both tasted considerably lighter than your normal fruit or milk tea.

Location & Service

Location-wise, the store is a bit out of the way, located at the far end of Yio Chu Kang MRT. Marketing itself as a pick-up store, there are no seats for you to drink there. While the drinks aren’t your typical fare, the staff are more than happy to recommend drinks.

As the teas are infused house expect to wait 10 minutes for your tea to be ready, perhaps longer if you order more. From personal experience, I wouldn’t suggest you order if you know your bus is coming in a few minutes because you might just miss it.

Our Honest Opinion

Let your tea diet turn over a new Leeves - 4.5/5

Sure it might be a little out of the way, but with interesting infusions that are as pretty as they are healthy, not to mention the generous cup size, I think Leeves is something people in the area should try.

They rarely have queues as of now so don’t say I bojio if you wait and one day find a crowd.

You can get yourself a floral tea from Leeves at Yio Chu Kang Bus Interchange, #01-04. They open from 10:30 am - 8:30 pm from Mondays to Saturdays. Closed on Sundays.
